Career planning

Career development opportunities are a key strategic recruitment and retention tool in today's competitive labor market and are a key driver for Generation Y recruitment. Generation Y and Generation X are a critical labor source for your organization's future as succession plans are implemented transferring knowledge capital from the retiring Baby Boomers to our future workforce and leadership.

Career planning development begins with job analysis to identify the overall purpose, functions performed and baseline qualifications of jobs within the potential Career Plan. The process involves a sampling of job incumbents to document job content, specifications, and job related competencies required to successfully perform a given job. Focus groups including levels of management are assembled based on the identified Career Plan. These focus groups provide input to determine the progression of the plans and the defined development levels and skill sets required for each level within the organization.

The intended result of Career Plan Development is to motivate your existing employees to develop their skill sets aligning with the Mission and Vision of your organization. Additionally, Career Plans provide opportunities to enhance your recruitment program, objectively and consistently document movement through the plans, reduce turnover, increase job productivity and performance and assign competitive market rates to reward the appropriate level of skills, experience, education, training, and job responsibilities to incumbents. It will also provide your organization the foundation for the development of additional internal competency based training programs and/or recommend external skill-based training or continuing education that will meet the current and future operational and strategic staffing needs of your organization.
